Beijing Scenes.

Beijing Scenes.  Paper back book published by Beijing Publishing House 1982, 80 pages with colour photographs throughout, text is in Chinese and English.

New buildings outside Jianguomen.
With a newly completed clover leaf at a main juncture, this tract of wasteland has now become a busy metropolitan district.

Changan Boulevard.
This was a main street in what used to be Beijing’s Inner City.  It has been widened and extended to a total of 10 li (3.3 miles), with many new building along both sides.  The Great Hall of the People is in the back across the square ground.

New look of Chongwenmen.
Many new buildings have arisen in the Chongwenmen district in the southeastern part of the city.  A completely new thoroughfare has been built parallel to the Changan Boulevard.  It runs from Chongwenmen in the east to west of Xuanwumen.

Train through the mountains.
A new railway line built through the precipitous region of southwestern Fangshan County, one of Beijings outlying districts that abounds in peaks and canyons.

Autumn woods of Huairou.
Huairou County lies to the north of Beijing.  It is a densely wooded and hilly district, but of remarkable beauty when bathed in brilliant sunshine and autumn tints.
