Today the mountainous areas support domestic construction with bamboo and other timber, silk, tea, and so on.  Shown here is a forest of China fir.

Medical care comes to the mountainous areas where epidemics were rampant before liberation.  Hospitals and health centres have been set up in all communes and brigades.

Fish are also reared in the reservoir.

Vessels of 100-300 tons navigate the big canals.  Water transport promotes the exchange of goods between city and country and supports industrial and agricultural production.  Show here is a landing-place on the Piho Main Trunk Canal.
